Lose yourself in the tranquility of morning coffee lakeside before a yoga session to clear the mind prior to delving into a day filled of photography.

If you want to live your life in a creative way, as an artist, you have to not look back too much. You have to be willing to take whatever you’ve done and whoever you were and throw them away.” Steve Jobs

AUGUST 6-8 2012. Room is available Sunday night the 5th thru Wednesday the 8th

About the Retreat

This is a workshop that will focus on people photography: Portrait, Fashion, Boudoir, Couples.

Plan on 3 days of learning photography at a calm pace. Let go of the business brain and concentrate only on the art of photography.
It’s always been a dream of mine to have a photographic retreat where a small group of people could hang for 3 days in one place. Room, food, drinks and covered in the cost. This is absolutely ALL INCLUSIVE.
I was in a rut as a wedding photographer in the mid 2000’s I was starting to resent photography. I was so focused on the business I forgot why I loved being a photographer in the first place. I made a decision to go back to college and start doing all kinds of personal projects. It is exactly what I needed to fall in love with photography again.
I want to share the Zen like experience that I had. Where the camera is just a instrument used to produce the images I have inside me. I wan’t this retreat to be a starting point for you to have that experience. It is a focus on the craft of photography and beyond. I want to share all the techniques I use with exposure and lighting but also, more importantly, how to interact with people to make great images.

  • Exposure
  • Lighting
  • Posing
  • Post Processing
  • Creating
  • Developing of an Idea
  • Composition
  • Seeing
  • Believing in Yourself

Is this workshop for you?

Ask yourself…Do you:
Need to recharge your creative juices?
Love photography and want to be immerse yourself for 3 days?
Want to understand light and how to manipulate it?
Want to understand how to work with people in photography to get real emotion?
Love fashion and want to learn how to shoot like Vogue?
Just need a break?
Think that the craft of photography is important?

Workshop Details

Cost to Attend: $1495
Registration Includes:  Instruction, Food, Drink, Lodging, Models.
There is a limit of 10 people that can attend. Two of the rooms have double beds so we need 4 people for roommates.
There will be 4 models to work with, as well as each other. I strongly believe in photographers having their own photograph taken.  You will be able to use any images for portfolios.
Bring comfortable shoes and clothes. You will have the opportunity to do Yoga in the mornings. Yoga teaches you about your own body and helps in posing. It is also a great way to start a day and clear your mind from the clutter.
We will also be going on a photographic hike to a natural spring. There is a lot of uphill walking on stairs.
At the house, there is an Infinity pool that looks over the Lake, plus a large hot tub and steam room to relax in.
We will have movie nights in the cinema room.
If you book and are unable to attend, 1/2 of cost will be refunded or you can apply fees to another retreat.

Despite some revisions being pages long never quite managing to get across what I wanted to, so I’m going a different route…. The workshop was The Arlund Photography Retreat. […]
