So, the holidays are upon us. I just got done doing a shoot of a little 3 1/2 year old. I used an Idea I did a couple of years ago and I think this turned out pretty good.
My Idea was to make it look kind of arts and crafts like. Think Martha Stewart. So I cut out a bunch of paper snowflakes, then purchased some from the hobby store and strung them up from a background stand using clear thread.
Here is the recipe if you are curious.
3 lights (used are pro fotos with 2 packs)
1 octabox, 1 barn-door, i bare with reflector that comes with strobe.
This is a 5×7 vertical folded card. I’ll print on pearl.
If you are interested in getting some cards done they are $125 for a pack of 25.
Front:

Inside with fold line.

And the Recipe.

What snow looks like with background stand and background light. Trick is to silhouette the snowflakes and then keep them far enough away from subject so main light does not blow them out. They are made from white construction paper.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas everyone.

Awesome Chuck! Thanks for sharing your set up. What an adorable little girl
Chuck – first off…those shots are awesome! Second, your diagram complete with dirty floor comment made me laugh out loud. And finally, it was super cool of you to share!
Hey Chuck,
I actually tried to do this about three years ago but didn’t have any luck. I had the snow flakes hanging down all over the place so of course the subject would get caught up in the monofilament. I also didn’t have any idea what I was doing with the studio lights at the time. I know slightly more now.
Anyway you’ve got me thinking about this set up again. I may give it a try one more time! Thanks for the inspiration!
PS don’t forget to send me your info for the Boudoir Photography Network soon as you get time.
